Light engines and caboose hop head south to pick up a cut of auto racks loaded with GM cars ready to hit the markets out west.

As a yard train went by I noticed it had this old Southern Pacific caboose on it, if only I was alive when a caboose was common.

Office of the SP train order operator. The ends were painted white so approaching trains would not mistake them for an active caboose.

In Byron along the unused for now Mococco Line sits SP 1212, a C-40-3 class caboose built in 1942. I believe these were the last Cupola Cabooses the SP purchased new.
