Built as an answer to the lightweight trains of the late 1950s, the Roger Williams cabs outlasted those trains by more than two decades. The 408 was a Saturday/Sunday only train, and was part of the "400" Series of Rail Diesel Car runs. Posted by Charles J Freericks on October 8, 2008 Those were called "ghetto bars" or "rock guards." They were there to protect the crew from rock throwers - a very serious problem in the Northeast.
