In what could be one of the best preserved stretches of the abandoned Jersey Central Railroad Main Line, these dual tracks through Hampton have not seen a train in over twenty years. This was once a thriving freight route linking the New York metro area with the hills of Pennsylvania and also a commuter route hosting such famous passenger trains as the "Queen of the Valley." Not many dual track abandonments exist around the state of New Jersey, especially in this great condition. For a shot of the abandoned ROW farther east, view photo 213940.
