Remarks & Notes |
On display at the Historic Jamestown Shops and Roundhouse is this neatly painted ALCO MRS1 (RSX4). This unit has worked for both the the US Army as their B-2063 and the US Navy as their 65-000613. It has a steam generator for passenger service. Purchased in January 1991 from the Concord Naval Weapons Station, it is servicible. It is also interestingly to me one of the few cases were ALCO beat EMD. Both suppliers had built their own version of the MRS1 for the US Military... but after looking at the two versions, the military chose the ALCO for the larger order. |
