First and former Erie Lackawanna SDP45 3635, now wears a Conrail number and has received the hasty "CR" restenciling job that was so typical during this time period. Today's assignment is to lead a very fast eastbound Conrail TOFC train through St. Paris, Ohio, on a beautiful September morning. The hogger offers me a big wave and there's little doubt he's enjoying the smooth ride of recently refurbished track. Sadly, this former PRR main line was not part of Conrail's "final route plan" and was subsequently abandoned. The last time I passed through St. Paris a few years ago, the only remnants of this once proud main line were tall weeds and bits and pieces of the pole line that were never removed...
