T&P GP9 398 was built as the 1143 in May 1957 painted in the beautiful "swamp Holly orange" pattern. By the time this photo was taken at Tornillo, Texas, in November 1962, the unit had been renumbered 398 and painted in the short lived T&P gray and white scheme. The MoPac "Jenks blue" livery was introduced in June 1961, so it will only a matter of time before this unit will be repainted. The 398 was renumbered to MoPac 563 and eventually 1848 before being retired in November 1981.
