The original contract for the Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) GE C30-ACi was for 143 locomotives. It turned out that after the completion of the 143, a further 15 locomotives were built for CFM Mozambique, followed by a further 16 ordered by TFR. That has now been extended by another 60, which means that on completion, the TFR class will total 219 locomotives. Loco 43 155 is seen nearing completion inside the Transnet Engineering workshops at Koedoespoort, during a Railway Society of Southern Africa group visit.
