Over the last few years (for me personally), Saiccor No. 2, ex SAR Class 19D No. 2633, has been the most elusive of the three Saiccor Class 19D locomotives, in terms of photo opportunities versus my visits coinciding with the loco being on duty. As time gets shorter and shorter, before steam operations come to an end at the mill (and diesel traction takes over), I was very pleased to find Saiccor No. 2 working the exchange yard this afternoon on a chance visit I made. Saiccor No. 2 was built by Skoda in 1938.
Rare South African photographs (older and newer) on RailPictures.Net, where the potential to recreate them either no longer exists for any number of reasons, or the chances of another opportunity are very slim or non existent!
