Observation Platform. A visit to Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania on June 29, 2016 found former Nickel Plate Road 759 (S-2 Berkshire, 2-8-4, Lima, 1944) flanked on the left by Grand Trunk Railway 6039 (4-8-2, Baldwin Locomotive Works, 1925) and the right by Lackawanna 565 (2-6-0, Alco, 1908). The "Berk" was in service until being the last steam locomotive overhauled by the Nickel Plate in 1958, and was subsequently stored and not fired up by that railroad again. It was acquired by the original Steamtown owner F. Nelson Blount on October 16, 1962 and subsequently moved to his Steamtown, U.S.A. collection in North Walpole, New Hampshire. After working a number of excursions over the years and returning, it was brought to Scranton along with the rest of the collection in 1984. Cosmetically restored, it can be moved around as part of various displays, notably the visit of fellow Berkshire NKP 765 from the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society in 2015.
