Sunning itself in Illinois Central Gulf's yard in Mobile, Alabama, on February 27th, 1983, is RS-1 1053, still painted in predecessor Gulf Mobile & Ohio colors. This engine, built by Alco in May 1948, was originally Illinois Terminal 750. ITC later renumbered it to 753 and, finally, to ITC 1053 before selling it to GM&O, which retained the third ITC road number.
