A quartet of sequentially numbered GP40-2 (7661, 7660, 7659, 7658) grind upgrade through San Timoteo Canyon on SP's Sunset Route in southern California. Some sets of power, such as this 10-month-old set, were chained together in order to ensure that the entire set was available for high priority trains and not broken up for lesser work.
