Remarks & Notes
Saratoga based local SC4 has just entered the Adirondack Park region of New York as it approaches the small yard at Corinth where the spur to the large International Paper mill comes off the Adirondack Branch. At the time this photo was taken the IP mill was the only customer on the branch but they required almost daily service. Today the mill is closed and the line is silent but still in place, with plans for tourist and ski trains. CP still has freight rights if the mill site is redeveloped. This branch still extends to North Creek and Tahawus. North Creek is the site of a tourist line today and Tahawus was the site of a large ilmenite mine that produced unit trains of ore. That mine closed in the late 80’s.
