Remarks & Notes 
The shortest Daylight both in consist and distance was the Sacramento Daylight. Running from its namesake city to Lathrop (then later to Tracy) making a connection with the "San Joaquin Daylight". #3006 was built as #5624 and retired as #3195 and was one of four "torpedo boats" on the SP.

In the years after World War II Southern Pacific went from being the most bullish railroad on passenger service to one of its biggest detractors. It continually downgraded service until Amtrak took over what remained.
