| With the Class 87s just having been retired and most due for sale to Bulgaria for use on freight trains, I thought I'd u[pload this old shot from 1979. These locos were the premier motive power on the West Coast Main Line for nearly thirty years. Although not often photographed on freight workings, two examples can be seen here having just coupled onto a container train north of Springs Branch, Wigan in May 1979. Although the photo is bright, it was almost dark at the time and had to be taken with a very long exposure. |
