An Erie Lackawanna RS3, renumbered by Conrail, with that number lined-out, indicating that this unit is off roster. This had been EL #1039, and prior to that, Delaware, Lackawanna & Western #901, delivered August 1950 (the DL&W's first RS3). Behind her was a patched Jersey Central "Red Baron," #5381, formerly CNJ 1552, delivered April 1953. It was dead silent when two friends and I saw these units, and with the cold air and crunching of snow, there was something truly eerie (no pun intended) about being there.
This gallery contains photos of equipment and properties that became, were and used to be part of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad. This gallery also contains photos of equipment paying tribute to the EL or its predecessors.
