The train is coming down hill and through the Caliente loop. Dash 9 4963 is headed west bound toward Bakersfield feed lots. With 17,000 tons of grain in the hoppers, the brakes are getting a workout. If you take a look you can see smoke coming off the wheels in several places and a blue haze above the hoppers.
