Remarks & Notes
Class 37 'Tractors' in their heyday - the lunchtime Hunterston-Ravenscraig steelworks coal train has, as usual, attached a 3rd loco up front for the last 2 gruelling miles up to Ravenscraig. This drama of the 3 engines raising the echoes was repeated several times each day with coal and iron ore trains, until replaced by single class 60s in the late 1980s. The steelworks has now vanished, a victim of Thatcherite Britain.
