Remarks & Notes
The Chessie Steam Special races towards Philadlephia behind Reading T1 #2101. Staged in honor of the 1977 Sesquicentennial of the Baltimore & Ohio (founded in 1827), Ross Rowland's 4-8-4 toured the Chessie System in full Chessie System yellow, blue, and vermillion, and including Chessie, the sleepy C&O kitten. It was so successful during its 1977 season that the railroad decided to add a second year in 1978. Here it is heading north on a one day Baltimore-Philadelphia-Baltimore round trip.
