Remarks & Notes
Continuously welded rail is a rarity on the Alaska Railroad, but this stretch of track between Potter and Girdwood has recently been rebuilt, allowing the railroad to put ribbon rail and a class 1 worthy roadbed in place. The Spirit of Alaska has 82 cars of northbound freight in tow as it makes the track speed of 49mph along the Seward Highway.

Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
