I didn’t know it at the time I was making this shot, but this was to be the last night of operation for the pair of cantilever’s at Mons crossover. Mons is on SP’s Sunset Route near Palm Springs Calif. The next morning at sunrise, the signal crews arrived and turned the US&S H’s 90 degrees to track and cut in a new array of line side signals.
