Remarks & Notes
My first train photo: This was the day after a northbound 95-car coal train (from Loyall to Corbin) collided with 90 empty hoppers stored on the center siding at Artemus. This was during a system-wide strike on the L&N, and the double spiked and locked switch had been maliciously tampered with to line the unsuspecting crew into the stored hoppers. I was with my grandparents, and I recall taking this shot with their Kodak Box Brownie. Miraculously, no one was killed (although seven were injured).
