| As the Chicago Terminal passenger special heads back to North Avenue Yard for the night, the conductor exits the bridge control shanty with his lantern in hand to unlock the rails at the end of the span in order to swing the bridge back out of the way. This is the only off-center swing railroad bridge I know of. |
