Yes sir, folks---Southern's Best Friend of Charleston replica (built at Spencer Shops) was a genuine steamer. Alas, it only operated in forward, and a small gasoline engine had to pull it backwards. However, here's the BF in full form---Charlie Powell at the throttle---as it hauls happy folks at Appalachia's Railroad Days festival in 1984.
