| "Alaskan Agriculture" - Now how is that for an oxymoron? This hopper is one of two that wear this unique paint scheme. A small fleet was purchased in the early 1980s to support export from the state's Delta Barley project. That agricultural initiative turned out to be a failure and the railcars were sold except for two which the ARR purchased. These cars now travel to and from Washington state by barge where they are used to ship feed and fertilizer to AK Mill and Feed in Anchorage. |
