Remarks & Notes
Final Flight: The last train of Boeing 737 fuselages to run south from Snohomish to Renton on BNSF's Woodinville Subdivision crosses Batt Slough on a typical murky Northwest winter morning. The puffs of exhaust from BNSF 2093 & 2091 provide clear evidence that this wood trestle, the longest (if not the largest) on the line, marks the beginning of the 1.5% climb from Bromart to Maltby. The completion of BNSF's new Cedar River bridge at Renton permitted the extra-long 737-900 fuselages to be brought in from the south (they were too long to fit through the truss bridge on a curve which had previously spanned the river), clearing the way for WSDOT to demolish the Wilburton Tunnel over I-405 for a highway widening project.
