Anyone who knows me understands that I'm a die-hard steam fan. But I've got a soft spot for certain diesels, too. Take, for instance, the EMD SD70ACe - an engine that's a class act all the way. These are just great locomotives, both to photograph and to run. Just look at that nose (does it say "raw power" to you? Because it does to me). Here's 8510 ducking under the signals at Helper, Utah, where my grandfather once worked on D&RGW steam power. I can't help but think he'd be impressed at 8510's sheer brute strength...though in my opinion it'll never match a 'Grande 4-6-6-4!
