| My favorite shot from Cass this year is this simple wedge of Western Maryland Big 6 pushing a log train up the 6% grade at Gum Field. The weather on Cheat Mountain in the spring is often cloudy and dreary, making virtually every shot a tight balance between a bright, white sky and dark everything else. This run-by at Gum field offered an ideal combination of filtered front lighting and a colorful background, yielding the kind of wilderness steam shot that keeps me coming back to this place. |
