Amtrak train #11, the Coast Starlight, has only been underway a little more than an hour on its day and a half long journey from Seattle to Los Angeles. This is one of the more scenic portions of the run, a trip along Puget Sound. On this warm spring day, Scotch Broom adds bright yellow color to the hillside, and lots of pollen to the air.
Running daily between Seattle and Los Angeles, this train offers running alongside the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains. It has been one of Amtrak's long-distance success stories.
