On a frigid evening in January 1994, an eastbound Santa Fe stack train works upgrade into Abo Canyon and the sunset and across the first of seven bridges it will cross in the canyon. LadrĂ³n Peak "Thief" in the Sierra Ladrones "thieves' mountains", named for it's use by Apache raiding parties, is visible on the horizon across the Rio Grande Valley.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
Pictures taken with the strong contrast between Rail and Light in Dawn/Dusk/Sunrise or Sunset.
