Remarks & Notes |
This is the Princess Lines McKinley Express (MEX) which runs Saturdays and Mondays Seward (passengers actually get on/off at Whittier where the cruise ships berth) to Talkeetna where the passengers stay at the McKinley Princess Lodge. It is all ARR Equipment and shown SB at about 5:00 pm. The trailing locomotive so the train does not need to be turned is ARR 4327 (SD0MAC). The train was quite full. Parallel to the tracks is the Seward Highway from Anchorage south. Below it is the Potter Marsh, a birder paradise. Above the train is Turnagain Arm of the Cooks Inlet. If you need a map of all this try: http://www.alaskarails.org/route-map/route-map.html I want to thank RKrol for help with this caption. |
