Remarks & Notes
Two Amtrak trains are at St. Louis Gateway Station on a hot early August afternoon. Train #313(the "Missouri River Runner," led by AMTK 74) has just departed for Kansas City. Train #306 in the background(Amtrak "Lincoln Service," led by AMTK 1) will be departing for Chicago in about 1 1/2 hours after being turned on the wye, just west of the station. The building with the blue roof, just to the left of the departing Train #313 is the old "Amshack," now being used as a staging center for Amtrak personnel, with offices and shops as well.
