Remarks & Notes

This trestle once carried the Georgia Railroad's Athens branch over Trail Creek and Poplar St in Athens, GA. This section of the line was closed in 1997 and the rails were pulled up in 2000, the trestle was in the process of being demolished when the city halted the demolition, but now it again faces a unknown future as the city plans to build a bike trail on the old ROW and the trestle may not be structurally sound enough for continued use.
