On this spectacular October day in 2003, the brilliant colors of autumn in Upstate New York couldn't disguise the fact that Canadian Pacific's ex-D&H Albany Main was slowly being reclaimed by nature: the approach signal to CPF499 at Delanson was dark, the rails were rusty and overgrown, and the very survival of the line was in question. Although the east end of the Albany Main from Voorheesville to Kenwood Yard would be ripped up the following year, the west end survived and today is operated by SMS Rail Lines as they serve the CPR interchange at Delanson.
