June 1st, 2008, San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society ex Santa Fe steam locomotive 3751 is seen here steaming off the turntable back at Redondo Junction in Los Angeles, Calif. She slowly rolls back into her compound after a triumphant day of operation in which she returned to San Diego after more than a 50 year absence from that service. Image originally appeared in the September 2008 issue of Railroads Illustrated on pages 32 & 33 as the opening image to my photo essay titled “San Diego Steam Special” © Steve Crise Photo.
