| Combine a rejuvenated local economy due to the introduction of center pivot irrigation by farmers in the area and the popularity of a particular TV show, and there you have the reason why Brooten dubbed itself "Heart of the Bonanza Valley" in the 1970's. While the optimism of that time has been tempered by the farm crisis of the 80's and continued population decline in the 90's and 2000's, there's still a "bonanza" on the Soo Line rails through town, evidenced by the passage of CP train 198. |
