The sun has been up for less than an hour and the residents around Shalona Lake are getting an early wake-up call this Sunday morning. The Durango & Silverton's annual fall Photo Special, has just cleared the Mini-Highline and is storming across Colorado Route 250, less than a mile south of Rockwood Station. This morning, K-28 #473 is the power and she's highballing with a mixed freight and passenger consist for Silverton. After a brief lunch stop there, she'll begin her photo stops, working southbound through the Animas Canyon in the beautiful afternoon light.
