Remarks & Notes 
The ex Glasgow and South Western mainline from Gretna, just north of Carlisle to Glasgow via Dumfries and Kilmarnock is a very under photographed route. This is surprising when considering the scenery is often superb, and the line carries a fair amount of freight as well. In this view we see First Scotrail unit 156506 climbing towards the Drumlanrig tunnel with a northbound service. Black Hill and Penbane can be seen in the background
