On October 24, 2009 The C&TS ran their end of season freight train as a triple header up to the summit of Cumbres Pass. Seen here just a mile out of Chama. While most of the other photographers were on the other side I tried an unconventional view and really like how the steam blends in with the clouds in the sky. Rio Grande 2-8-2s 489-488-487 and 27 cars make up the days train.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
