| A UP hump set awaits work, while track inspection vehicle EC-4 is seen to by a fork lift in the background. Behind that, the massive bowl of West Colton Yard and the shrinking figure of Slover Mountain make for a familiar backdrop in what was an iconic Southern Pacific scene. SD38-2 #Y831 (which leads two SD40-2s) was delivered to the SP as #2972 in April of 1973 for hump duty, and can usually be found in the confines of this yard. |
