Remarks & Notes
The smallest railroad in the world (aka the shortest railroad in the world) has returned to service after a nine year absence in downtown LA. Serving the stretch from Hill Street to the top of Bunker Hill, the historic funicular was built in 1901 as the Los Angeles Incline Railway, it ran until 1969, when it was dismantled and put in storage. Reopened a half a block south in 1996, it ran until 2001 when it was shuttered due to a fatal accident. It just reopened for its third incarnation March 15.
