In the 1980s, EMD's SD40-2 was king on the Union Pacific! Here we see a pair, with a GE B30-7 in between, hustle a manifest eastbound through Gothenburg, Nebraska, in August 1988. Gothenburg was on the old Pony Express line, hence the logo on the large Co-Op grain elevator in the background.
