Remarks & Notes
A Kansas City Southern Railway ES44AC in beautiful Southern Belle livery leads BNSF Railway's Denver, CO to Provo, UT trackage rights manifest along the former D&RGW at 7440 ft. Soldier Summit. In the background, a large gathering of UP maintenance of way vehicles dot the landscape. Apparently May 29, 2010 was the final day of a big track rebuilding campaign along the Provo Sub. The old D&RGW double track mainline hasn't received this much attention since the Rio Grande disappeared into the SP in the late 1980's. It's encouraging to know that Union Pacific is compelled to invest resources on this highly underutilized double track mainline through the Wasatch.
