Remarks & Notes
1907 Baildwin Built 0-6-0, #58 backs her Easter Bunny train Eastbound over the Iron Truss bridge. This is the only iron truss bridge on the Wilmington & Western. It is a secondhand bridge that was moved here in 1907. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad’s bridge records for the Landenberg Branch indicate that this bridge was originally one of the spans of Bridge #124 from the B&O’s Wheeling Division. The bridge spans 104 feet, is almost 18 feet wide, and is almost 22 feet high. Built of iron and identified as Bridge 11A on the Landenberg Branch, it is of a construction and design that is known as a Pratt Truss Bridge. Bridges of the Pratt Truss design were almost exclusively used on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad for spans ranging in length from 100 to 200 feet.
