Remarks & Notes |
The Red Dragon has a special place in my heart as I remember seeing this train as a wide eyed child when originally steam hauled in the late 1950s early 1960s. Here recapturing distance but vivid memories GWR Castle No 5029 Nunney Castle passes along the South Wales coast at Ferryside not in 1960 but 2010. To me the single chimney Castle Class was one of the most beautiful designed and balanced locomotives, here looking its very best gleaming paintwork and shimmering brass safety valve and copper capped chimney, plus reporting numbers and headboard. The reporting number is not correct for the up Red Dragon but 175 has been used as its the 175th anniversary of the GWR or as some would know it God's Wonderful Railway. |
