The Valley Railroad's Chief Mechanical Officer, J. David Conrad, is performing the rarely seen "Ring of Fire" that will "sweat" off the tire of the Right No. 1 Driver belonging to the Valley's 2-8-2 No. 3025. It took about 30 minutes until the tire was heated to 460 degrees before being hammered off with sledges. Although his hat appears to have been ignited, I assure you he was in no danger of immolating!
