Beautiful train: NS 955 rolls through Central, SC on a sunny summer afternoon, rewarding a near five hour wait. This is true southern railroading: Sleek F-units rolling by hills covered in kudzu. They used to say that if the brakeman didn't walk fast enough the kudzu would catch up and engulf him. This is about true as kudzu can grow up to one foot per day. The lashup was, in order, NS 4271, NS 4276, NS 4275, and 4270. The consist was NS 7, Pennsylvania; NS 9, Alabama; NS 13, Georgia; NS 2, Carolina; NS 19, Kentucky; NS 24, Delaware; and NS 23, Buena Vista. Don't you wish the Amtrak trains looked as nice as this.
