The SBB Re482 class is a member of the TRAXX family of locomotives. These are mainline locomotives built by Bombardier Transportation in both freight and passenger variants. The acronym TRAXX stands for Transnational Railway Applications with eXtreme fleXibility. The locomotives were primarily produced for the German Railways , but orders also came from other European countries including France, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Spain and Switzerland.
