Remarks & Notes
A visit to the Harmony Gold locomotive depot revealed two historic gems sitting on a spur next to the workshop. These GE 65-tonners, formerly Free Gold No.6 and No.2, were built in Schenectady, NY in 1950 and 1949 respectively. Today they are part of the Harmony Gold fleet and are kept in working order, as back-up to the four GE(SA) UM10B’s. Photographed with permission.
