Remarks & Notes
Deseret Ry’s E60 #DPR 1 is just leaving the unloading loop at the Bonanza Power Plant in far eastern Utah on a perfect summer day. Those small mounds on both sides of the track are stabilized sand dunes; the vegatation keeps the sand from moving around anymore. Bonanza is the 4th largest power plant in Utah at 500mw. Ahead lie 34 miles of railroad featuring badlands, sagebrush flats, hogbacks and 2% grades until it finally reaches the Deserado Mine loadout in Colorado.
