| The Caledon branch owes its existence to grain - grain grown in the area surrounding Caledon and grain imported into the large SA Breweries malting complex in the town, only to have the processed product exported again! This results in considerable traffic and up to 4 return trains can run a day. Here we see four Class 35s passing through Houwhoek on a 25 wagon 1500T block load. |
